  • Director of Safety, Rules, and Training

    Summary

    The Director Safety, Rules and Training (SR&T) directs the development and implementation of system-wide safety, health and environmental initiatives in accordance with RailPros Filed Services safety commitment, customer requirements and governmental regulations.   The Director SR&T serves as the primary liaison with field associates, customers, federal, state and local agencies and other external stakeholders in these areas. The position provides essential service and support to our Safety commitment and Service Excellence goal.

    Essential Functions

    1. Develops and oversees the implementation and maintenance of the RailPros Field Services System Safety Program Plan and related health, safety and environmental policies and procedures and ensures conformity with applicable regulations and policies.
    2. Serves as the key member of the Senior Safety Council and act as the primary resource for safety, health and environmental matters.
    3. Investigates all incidents and accidents to ensure that root causes and lessons learned are identified and that corrective actions are implemented.
    4. Manages compliance reporting consistent with Federal Railroad Administration in addition to related regulatory requirements.
    5. Manages contracts for the services, equipment, materials, supplies, or products related to health, safety and environmental programs.
    6. Manages the Company’s Drug and Alcohol testing program.
    7. Develops and maintains RPFS CFR 243 training program documents.
    8. Develops policies and procedures that ensure compliance with environmental laws and the Sustainability Plan, while meeting operational needs.
    9. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Competencies

    1. Expert knowledge in FRA railroad rules and regulations.
    2. Expert knowledge in Roadway Worker Regulations and the practical application in the field
    3. Expert knowledge in GCOR and/or US Operating Rules and experience working under Class 1 Railroad

    This job operates in an office environment, classroom setting and in the field at jobsites. Common this this position is the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to read, write and speak clear English.  Must be able to drive long distances and travel by other modes as necessary. Must be able to stand for long periods and able to walk level or uneven ground for prolonged periods.

    This is a full-time, salary, exempt position that typically works in-excess of 40-hours per week.

    Must have the ability and availability to respond immediately to emergency or problem calls, and to be on call twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.

    Summary
    Under the direct supervision of the Field Services Coordinator, this position provides administration support for our team, both in the office and in the field. The ideal candidate would be able to handle a high volume of calls, working with clients from multiple states for job setup. In addition to scheduling and drafting quotes, there will be light payroll approval duties. Great customer service skills, communication skills and attention to detail are a must as well as the ability to think and work independently. Discretion in handling confidential information is required. The position provides essential service and support to our “Service Excellence” goal.Essential Functions

    This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position. Days of work are Monday through Friday. Current anticipated hours are 8am – 4:30pm, with a thirty (30) minute break for lunch, however the hours are subject to change as needed to match our business need.

    Travel
    Very little travel is expected for this position, and all travel would be fairly close to the office (within 100 miles). Some examples of travel would be to take a piece of equipment to the field when that would be faster than shipping the equipment or going to the Post Office/FedEx.

    The Marketing Manager will play a key role in:

    Essential Responsibilities

    RailPros Field Services has an opening for a Structural Engineer in our Utah office.  This position will report directly to the Utah office manager. The Structural Engineer will act as lead structures engineer for railroad projects including design, plan set production, design review, construction submittals review, etc.  Railroad structures include overpass bridges rated for AASHTO loadings, underpass bridges rated for E-80, retaining walls, unloading pits, and other structures supporting E-80 loadings. The Structural Engineer will provide oversight and guidance to junior engineers and manage projects. This position will be a main point of contact with clients, as well as review and write project proposals and budgets.

    Qualifications

    1. Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
    2. 5-10 years experience

    Summary

    RailPros Field Services has a need for Roadway Worker In Charge (RWIC) associates for our nation-wide services to the railroad industry.  The locations of need are associated with the service areas of the following railroads BNSF, CP, CN, KCS, UP, NS, Amtrak.

     Minimum Experience

    • The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 1-2 years of direct railroad experience, preferably within the Maintenance of Way (MOW) department as a RWIC.
    • Candidates will have significant experience with similar work, with background in such roles as roadmasters, signal managers, track inspectors, signal and bridge inspectors, and foremen.
    • Other railroad and railroad construction experience will be considered.
    • Must be able to identify and correct safety issues on the job-site in accordance with railroad regulations.
    • Strong verbal and written communication is required.

     Job Description

    • The RWIC will perform on-site roadway worker protection supporting for both 3rd-party and railroad activities on and around live railroad tracks. The RWIC is responsible for jobsite coordination, dispatcher/train communication, and various types of On-Track Safety in controlled and non-controlled track.
    • The RWIC is required to perform daily job briefings with all personnel on the job site and ensure all personnel adhere to the safety requirements of the railroad.
    • Commonly used tools and equipment weigh 15 to 90 pounds and will often be handled multiple times throughout the day.
    • Many RWIC assignments require walking or standing for extended periods.
    • RWIC assignments may require travel away from home for varying lengths of time.
    • The position is on-call as needed and hours worked will vary.
    • Maintain safety credentials and actively participate in routine reoccurring safety classes and qualification training.
    • Submit daily work reports using a tablet that accurately depict what occurred on the jobsite and train passage through the jobsite each day. Complete other reports as may be required.
